October Events
Want to get involved with St. Mary's County Democrats? Here's everything we're doing in October:
Blessing of the Fleet Parade
Sunday, October 8th
20279 Charles Hall Court
Colton's Point, MD 20626
We will be meeting at 10:30a to decorate the float; if you can't make it to help decorate, you can still march in the parade. Meet us by 11:30a, as the parade begins at noon. Come on out and support our watermen!
Club Meeting
October 16th, 7pm
Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad
Officers and committee chairs will be giving updates on our progress, and we'll also be presenting information on what offices will be on the ballot in November 2018. We'll also be hearing from Senator Rich Madeleno, who is one of the Democrats running for Maryland Governor.
51st US National Oyster Festival
October 21-22
St. Mary's County Fairgrounds
We will be operating a booth at the Oyster Festival-- connecting with our community, answering questions about the Democratic party, and helping our candidates get the word out about their campaigns! You can sign up to volunteer here, or e-mail Jayne Walsh at [email protected].
NAACP Annual Freedom Fund Banquet
Saturday, October 21, 6pm
Leonardtown Fire Department Social Hall
Tickets: $60 each by October 14.
Our Maryland Senator, Ben Cardin, will be attending. The Banquet is the primary source of funding for our local NAACP chapter, and the work they do is critically important for our community. The Banquet will feature good food, dancing, and a keynote from Gregory Wims.
Precinct Captain Training
Sunday, November 5th, 1:15pm
Lexington Park Library
This is one of our most important efforts; the Precinct Captain Program is grass roots organizing at its best and most effective. Precinct Captains will connect with registered voters in their neighborhoods and listen to the people of our community. There are all sorts of ways to get involved with our campaign committee-- if you'd like to learn more, contact our Campaign Committee Chair Laura Hart at [email protected]. This training event will focus on how to effectively use the tools to make being a precinct or block captain straightforward and easy.
