Democratic Club

The Club will meet next Monday, March 16 at 7 pm at the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. The focus of the meeting will be on canvassing, with a guest speaker and time to practice! See the agenda here. The minutes and handouts from the February meeting are available here.

#IAMSTMARYS, Democratic Women of St. Mary's, would like to thank everyone who came out to the Women’s Celebration and Rally on the Square in Leonardtown this past Sunday, March 8. We had a great turnout and wonderful weather. 

#IAMSTMARYS will hold their next meeting on May 7, with a social at 5:30pm and the business meeting at 6pm. The location is the Lexington Park Library.
The group is also hosting A Taste of Emerge, a one-day training session for Democratic women interested in running for office. It will be held on Saturday, May 30 at the Charlotte Hall Library. Volunteers Needed!

The Democrats will have an informational booth at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department during Early Voting for the Primary Election, April 16-23. We need lots of folks to help out! Sign up here.

We know the national news has been difficult over the last couple of weeks. Don’t despair -- do something! Join us for one or several of our upcoming February events:

Democratic Women of St. Mary’s

The #IAmStMarys group for Democratic Women is having a wine and cheese event on Feb. 15, 3-5pm, at the Carrie Patterson Art Studio. Come have fun and socialize.

                                       

St. Mary’s County Democratic Club

The Club will hold its monthly meeting on Feb. 17, 7-8pm, in the lower-level meeting room of the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad (next to the library). This month’s theme is Action! Learn about how you can make a difference by writing LTEs, submitting testimony, and lobbying. Here is the agenda, and here are the minutes and handouts from the last meeting.

The Voter Outreach Committee is hosting a 2020 Kick-off Happy Hour on Feb. 19, 5-8pm, at the Pax River Ale House. Light fare and a round of specialty drinks will be provided. (You read that right!)

The March Democratic Club meeting is scheduled for March 16.

The Democrats will have a booth at Earth Day on the Square in Leonardtown on April 19, 12:30-4:30pm. We will need volunteers to set up, talk to festival-goers, and help with our activity/giveaway. Let us know if you are interested: smcdemocrats@gmail.com.

January 2020

Happy New Year! Let's start 2020 with a bang -- join us for the St. Mary's Democratic Club meeting on Monday, January 20 at 7 pm. The location is the upstairs meeting room in the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad building (next to the library). We'll be hearing from local organizations about their legislative priorities for the Maryland General Assembly this year.

Democratic Central Committee

On Dec. 7, members of the St. Mary's DCC attended a meeting of the State Party, where Yvette Lewis was elected as the new chair. You can read more about her at the MD Dems website

 

 

The #IAMSTMARYS group for Democratic Women will hold its next meeting on January 8 at the Lexington Park Library. We will meet at 5:30 for conversation and start the meeting at 6 pm. 

 

The deadline to file for candidacy for the St. Mary's County School Board in the 2020 election is January 24.
