Happy New Year!

St. Mary’s County Democrats wish you a safe and healthy new year, 2022!

As we move into the new year, St. Mary’s County is experiencing a significant spike in COVID cases. We urge everyone to take the proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID, including getting vaccinated (and boosted!), wearing a mask, washing your hands, etc. It’s just as important as ever to remain vigilant and think of your neighbors–we’re all in this together. For more information about COVID testing and vaccination, please visit the St. Mary’s County Health Department’s website.

The St. Mary’s County Commissioners will host a public forum on Tuesday, January 11th at 6:30PM in the Commissioner’s meeting room in Leonardtown. We encourage everyone to participate in person, by calling in, or by sending an email to make your voices heard! Remember, the Commissioners only hold four public forums each year, so this is one of the few opportunities you have to speak to them, publicly and in person.

Democratic Central Committee

The new year is here, and the filing deadline for candidates is Friday, February 22nd! We’re looking for opinionated folks who are dedicated to making positive change in St. Mary’s County to step up and run for local office. This is YOUR opportunity to help build the Democratic Party in St. Mary’s County by joining the Central Committee, or becoming a candidate for County Commissioner, State Delegate, State Senator, and more!

Email us at [email protected] to start the conversation!

The Primary Election is just six months away on June 28th, with the General Election just 11 months away on November 8th! We’re going to need all the help we can get to build a strong and successful democratic presence in St. Mary’s County. One of the easiest ways you can help is to join our recurring donor program, Skipjack Circle. Members have already enjoyed exclusive benefits over the past year–so don’t miss out! Visit our donation page to join, and don’t forget to make your donation recur monthly!

The Democratic Central Committee is currently looking to fill a vacancy. This is a great way to get involved with the local Democratic Party and have a direct hand in building for our success in next year’s election! Interested parties can read more information here.

We’re also seeking a volunteer coordinator to help organize and motivate our awesome volunteers during the election year! Interested in lending your skills to the cause? Email us at [email protected] with your resume and a brief introduction–we’re looking forward to speaking with you!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Holiday Party at Olde Town Pub on December 17th! It was great to see everyone in person, including Doug Gansler, candidate for Governor. Delegate Brian Crosby

I hope you are well and staying safe as you enjoy the holiday season. The new year is a time for all of us to look back on what we have been through and done in the past year, and also to look forward and set goals for the year to come. For my part, I have begun the 2022 campaign, gotten married to the love of my life, and continued to bring resources to my community...all while trying to stay safe and help the state work through this pandemic! It's been busy, to say the least, as I know it has for so many of you.

As your delegate, I am constantly thinking about what we have done so far to make people's lives better, and what else can we do in the future. Our recent Town Hall on December 16th gave us a chance to review past initiatives, preview upcoming legislation, and answer questions from the community. If you did not get a chance to tune in that night, please click here to watch.

Finally, as the 2022 campaign season begins, we are ramping up for what we are certain will be another tough race. Our district is the most competitive in the state of Maryland. We appreciate your support for the campaign ahead. As a sitting delegate, I am not allowed to fundraise during session, which begins January 13th, so I would very much appreciate anything you can contribute now. Whatever you can give helps, donate here.

Thank you for your continued support, and from my family to yours, Happy New Year!
