March Events

If you were able to come to our February Democratic Club meeting, you had the chance to hear from two wonderful speakers. Laura Hill let us know about the amazing work being done through her organization Youth to Teen. If you'd like to get involved, you can follow their Facebook page to find out more. At the meeting, Laura mentioned that transportation is often one of their greatest needs.

Sean Johnson from the Maryland State Education Association also spoke, and would like us to share some links and resources with all of you! You can explore everything the MSEA does for our teachers at their website. Also, each year the MSEA tracks about 500 bills-- Sean says that the easiest way to follow all of the legislation that could affect Maryland's education system is to sign up for their newsletters. You can read the latest newsletter at this link. At our meeting, he spoke on how Hogan has not been good for Maryland's teachers or our students, and more information about that can be found here. The MSEA is also planning a march to Fix the Fund on March 19; if you'd like to attend, please visit this link to RSVP.

We've got a ton of stuff coming up in March! This coming Saturday, March 3, is the St. Mary's College Democrats and DCC's "Catch the Blue Wave" event at St. Mary's College Daugherty-Palmer Commons at 5pm. Come meet the 2018 Candidates and hear remarks from Kathleen Matthews-- chair of the Maryland Democratic Party. If you have a Facebook account, you can RSVP here.

Julia Nichols, our Democratic Candidate for Delegate 29C is continuing her listening tour. This month, you can find her at the Lexington Park Library Meeting Room B, March 17 from 9:00 to 10:15 am.

AnnMarie Abell, Democratic candidate for St. Mary's County Commissioner, invites you to a Sunday Breakfast at the Olde Breton Inn on March 18 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. To find out more and to purchase tickets, please visit her event page.

Laura Hart, our Voter Outreach Committee Chair, has scheduled another training opportunity for anyone interested in registering voters. Please e-mail Laura at [email protected] so that she can coordinate with the Board of Elections instructor to prepare materials for you. The training will be on March 19 at 6:00 pm at the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Our monthly Club Meeting is on March 19 at 7:00 pm at the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. Krish Vignarajah, Democratic candidate for Maryland governor, will be joining us!
